TeenAlive Participates in the 4th Edition of Weekend with Girls, Themed “Secure Girls, Secure Future”
TeenAlive was privileged to participate in the 4th Edition of the Weekend with Girls, a two-day program organized at the Women Empowerment and the Family Centre, Buea. Held under the theme “Secure Girls, Secure Future,” the event brought together girls from different backgrounds to empower, educate, and inspire them to become confident and responsible members of society.

Participants benefited from a rich array of informative and interactive sessions throughout the two days. A keynote presentation by the representative of UNFPA, titled “From Awareness to Action: Equipping Girls to Make Safe, Informed Choices,” set the tone for deeper conversations on gender-based violence and on sexual abuse and exploitation. Girls engaged in group class discussions and took part in a lively cooking competition, alongside a spiritual emphasis session on values and identity. Further sessions explored positive thinking, confidence, and purpose, equipped participants to recognize and report abuse, and inspired them through a session on good character. The program also featured a vibrant cultural jamboree and a dance competition, bringing energy and creativity into the heart of the learning experience. As part of its contribution, TeenAlive donated educational books to the Women Empowerment and the Family Centre.

The program was designed to create a safe and supportive environment where girls could learn, grow, discover their potential, and acquire the knowledge and life skills needed to make informed decisions. It aimed to increase participants’ knowledge, build their confidence, develop their leadership abilities, teach them how to protect themselves from abuse, and help them realize that they are capable of achieving great things. Beyond the two days, the program sought to inspire girls to become ambassadors of positive change within their schools, families, churches, and communities.
TeenAlive is grateful for the opportunity to participate in this impactful initiative. The knowledge and skills gained during the program will strengthen the organization’s efforts to promote child protection, gender equality, girls’ empowerment, and the overall wellbeing of adolescent girls in the communities it serves.
