Training of Community Facilitators on Life Skills and Positive Parenting

TeenAlive recently conducted a transformative three-day training session for community facilitators focused on life skills and positive parenting following the USAID/ UNICEF project titled, Emergency Child Protection Response at the pan African institute for Development, West Africa (PAIDWA).

This initiative aimed to empower participants with the tools and knowledge necessary to foster healthier family dynamics and strengthen community ties following the USAID / UNICEF Cameroon Emergency Child Protection project.

During the training,which took place in cohorts, TeenAlive facilitators engaged in interactive workshops that covered essential topics such as effective communication, decision-making, and problem-solving. These sessions were designed not only to impart knowledge but also to encourage participants to share their experiences and learn from one another.

The second day of the training delved into positive parenting techniques, where participants explored various parenting styles and strategies to nurture emotional intelligence in children. Through group discussions and role-playing activities, facilitators gained practical insights that they could apply in their communities of implementation.On the final day, the focus shifted to community engagement and support. Participants collaborated on methods to implement the skills they had learned, emphasizing the importance of building support networks.

The training concluded with a commitment from the facilitators to apply these strategies and to continue fostering positive relationships within their communities. The training was a resounding success, with participants feeling more confident and equipped to make a difference.

TeenAlive looks forward to further support these community leaders as they work towards creating a positive impact in the lives of families with continuous support from USAID and UNICEF- Cameroon .
