TeenAlive:Graduation of the 4th Batch of Laureates from the TeenAlive Vocational Training Center.
TeenAlive today 22nd August commemorates the graduation ceremony of the 4th batch of trainees enrolled in the Holiday skills Transformation program, which lasted for two months, July and August at her vocational training center.
The holiday skill Transformation framework is set to bring children out of the conventional classroom to acquire Hands on skills in the fields of, Traditional embriodery and beads design. This involves matting bags, key holders, necklaces, bracelets, chains, earrings and designing traditional African wears like the Danchiki.
During the event, Ngongang Verabell, the Vocational training center Coordinator, encouraged parents to support their children even as they retire back home with these skills to not relent in their effort to become better or even experts in their chosen fields.
Over the past two months, each session has been characterised by Life skills, Gender Based Violence sensitization for children and Recreational activities to build their minds. This training platform seeks to embede in the children leadership skills, help them think critically and take initiatives.
According to Nicole, a returnee from the two previous training sessions where she enrolled in the field of Beading, she is now able to teach her peers how to matt and also perfect her skills in traditional embroidery. Nicole is indeed an outstanding 10 year old Laureate.
The graduation ceremony was characterised by dance and an exceptional speech carefully written by 11 years old Chamango Gabriella, who single handedly took up this initiative.
We were also pleased to have representatives from two local organisations RAGJ and Queen Fongang Foundation (QFF) who also took part in awarding certificates to the graduands.
TeenAlive is today proud to graduate children not only with skills in embriodery or beading, but children who are critical thinkers, empathetic, self aware, Positive thinkers and hold themselves to high esteem.
