TeenAlive: UNICEF and USAID VISIT TO MISSELLELE ChILD FRIENDLY SPACE
TeenAlive was honored to host it’s sponsors UNICEF Cameroon and USAID at the TeenAlive Child Friendly Space in Missellele. Their visit represented a significant milestone in our ongoing project, Emergency Child Protection Response.
During this inspiring engagement, the adolescent girls had the opportunity to share their experiences and express how crucial our interventions are to their lives. They spoke about valuable lessons learned in previous adolescent girls’ clubs, including self-esteem, emotional regulation, and stress management.
The girls also highlighted the various child protection risks they face in their community, such as drug abuse, sexual exploitation, child labor, and the plight of unaccompanied and separated children.
Collaboratively, the girls, along with the Community-Based Child Protection Mechanism (CBCPM) and members of the community council, emphasized the importance of preventing sexual exploitation and abuse. They discussed the reporting channels available in their community for such incidents, emphasizing that all humanitarian assistance is provided free of charge.
The visit fostered a spirit of gratitude as the Community Council welcomed the donors, expressing their appreciation for selecting their community as one of the implementing areas.
The ongoing crises in the Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon have significantly impacted children, making this support even more vital.
Together, we shared insights, identified challenges, and explored potential solutions to ensure the safety and well-being of children in Missellele.
TeenAlive extends many thanks to UNICEF Cameroon and USAID for their unwavering support in our mission to protect every child from harm and neglect.
