RECRUITMENT OF PAID PROGRAMS STAFF FOR TEENALIVE FIELD OFFICE, BAMENDA
BACKGROUND
TeenAlive Association is a non-political, non-religious, non-profit organisation headquartered in Buea, Cameroon, with field operations in the South-West, North-West, Littoral, and West regions. TeenAlive works to promote child protection, gender equality, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), and access to education and livelihoods for vulnerable children, adolescents, and women.
As part of its commitment to building local capacity and empowering young professionals, TeenAlive seeks to recruit two 2 paid volunteer Programs Staff to support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of projects in the Bamenda Field Office. This initiative also aims to give early-career professionals the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in program delivery in a humanitarian and development context.
PURPOSE OF THE ASSINGNMENT
The recruitment of these two paid volunteer Programs Staff aims to:
- Strengthen the capacity of the Bamenda Field Office in project implementation and community engagement.
- Provide practical learning opportunities for early-career professionals interested in child protection, GBV, MHPSS, and education programming.
- Support data collection, reporting, and coordination efforts to improve the quality and accountability of TeenAlive’s interventions.
DUTY STATION
Bamenda, North-West Region, with travel to project sites.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Programs Manager (Buea) and Field Office Manager (Bamenda), the paid volunteer Programs Staff will:
Program Implementation
- Support the delivery of project activities, including child protection, GBV, MHPSS, and education-related initiatives.
- Assist in organising community sensitisation campaigns, training sessions, and beneficiary mobilisation.
- Support referrals and follow-up of at-risk children and GBV survivors to appropriate services.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Collect data using standard tools and submit to the M&E focal point.
- Document field observations, success stories, and lessons learned.
- Contribute to weekly and monthly reports.
Community Engagement
- Liaise with community leaders, volunteers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective participation in program activities.
- Facilitate feedback sessions with beneficiaries to improve program delivery.
Capacity Building and Learning
- Participate actively in all trainings and mentorship opportunities provided by TeenAlive.
- Apply newly acquired knowledge and skills to support program improvement.
Compliance and Safeguarding
- Abide by TeenAlive’s Child Safeguarding Policy, PSEA Policy, and Code of Conduct.
- Report safeguarding concerns in line with organisational procedures.
EXPECTED DELIVRABLES
- Weekly and monthly activity reports submitted on time.
- Accurate data collection and documentation of program outputs.
- At least one success story or case study documented per quarter.
- Active participation in training and capacity-building activities.
DURATION OF ASSIGNMENT
Six (6) months, with possibility of extension based on performance, learning progress, and funding availability.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education: At least a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Development Studies, Gender Studies, Political Science or a related field.
Experience:
- Previous experience (paid or voluntary) with community-based organizations, youth groups, or NGOs is an asset.
- Interest in child protection, GBV prevention and response, MHPSS, and community development work.
Skills:
- Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel) and willing to learn how to collect data using the digital data collection tools (Kobo, ODK).
- Fluency in English and Pidgin English (knowledge of French is an advantage).
