About TeenAlive Association
TeenAlive Association is a non-political, non-religious, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the well-being of children, adolescents and women. The organization operates across the South West and North West regions of Cameroon to strengthen child protection systems, support survivors of gender-based violence, provide educational assistance, enhance mental health and psychosocial support, and empower vulnerable women and girls through livelihood programs. TeenAlive partners with national and international organizations to implement programs focused on child protection, gender equality, safeguarding, and community resilience. To continue strengthening its financial management systems and ensure compliance with donor and organizational standards, TeenAlive is seeking to recruit a qualified and motivated Finance Officer.
Position Summary
The Finance Officer will support the financial management of TeenAlive’s programs and operations by ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with donor regulations, financial policies and transparent use of organisational resources. The officer will work closely with the Executive Director, program teams, and partners to ensure efficient budgeting, expenditure tracking, and financial accountability. The position will be based at the Head Office in Buea, will also oversee finances in the Bamenda office and will report directly to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management and Reporting
- Manage day-to-day financial transactions and maintain accurate accounting records.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with donor financial requirements and organisational policies.
- Prepare financial documents and support for internal/external audits and spot checks.
Budget Management
- Monitor project budgets and ensure expenditures align with approved budgets. Support the development of program budgets and financial forecasts.
- Provide financial analysis to support program decision-making.
Compliance and Internal Controls
- Ensure financial transactions comply with TeenAlive policies and donor requirements.
- Maintain strong internal financial control systems.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial records.
Payments and Cash Management - Process payments, payroll, reimbursements, advances, and maintain supporting
documentation. - Manage bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring.
- Ensure proper verification of financial supporting documents.
- Maintain cashbooks, bank reconciliations, and financial filing systems.
Coordination and Support - Provide financial guidance to program teams.
- Support financial capacity strengthening of project staff where required.
- Liaise with banks, auditors, and financial partners.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in financial management,
preferably within NGOs or development organisations. - Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and donor compliance.
- Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and organisational skills.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Desirable Skills - Experience working with donor-funded projects.
- Knowledge of NGO financial compliance and reporting standards.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to child safeguarding, accountability, and ethical standards.
